WMS

Production

Manage manufacturing batches, raw materials, and finished goods production.

Production

SimpleWMS includes production management capabilities for manufacturing operations. Track production batches, consume raw materials, and create finished goods inventory.

Production Batches

Production batches represent manufacturing orders that transform raw materials into finished products.

Batch Workflow

Created → Raw Materials Picked → Manufacturing → Completed

Viewing Production Batches

  1. Navigate to Production from the sidebar
  2. View the list of production batches
  3. Filter by status, product, or date
  4. Click a batch to view details

Creating a Production Batch

Manual Creation

  1. Navigate to Production
  2. Click Create Production Batch
  3. Enter batch details:
    • Product: The finished good to produce
    • Quantity: How many to manufacture
    • Lot number: For the finished goods
    • Target location: Where to store finished goods
  4. Save the batch

Batch Information

Each production batch includes:

  • Batch number: Unique identifier
  • Product: Finished good being produced
  • Quantity: Target production quantity
  • Status: Current batch state
  • Raw materials: Components needed
  • Lot number: Traceability reference

Raw Materials

Production batches consume raw materials (components, ingredients) to create finished goods.

Viewing Raw Materials

  1. Open a production batch
  2. View the Raw Materials section
  3. See required components and quantities
  4. Check availability status

Picking Raw Materials

Before manufacturing can begin:

  1. Open the production batch
  2. Click Pick to start raw material picking
  3. Confirm the source locations and quantities
  4. Complete the pick process

The system will:

  • Decrease raw material inventory
  • Mark materials as picked for the batch
  • Allow manufacturing to proceed

Manufacturing

Once raw materials are picked, the batch can be manufactured.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Open the production batch
  2. Verify raw materials are picked
  3. Click Manufacture
  4. Confirm the finished goods quantity
  5. Specify the target bin location
  6. Complete manufacturing

Manufacturing Results

After manufacturing:

  • Finished goods inventory is created
  • Lot number is assigned
  • Stock appears in the target location
  • Batch status updates to completed

Lot Traceability

Production creates traceable lots linking:

  • Finished goods lot: The manufactured product
  • Raw material lots: Components used
  • Production date: When manufactured
  • Batch reference: The production batch

This enables full traceability from finished product back to raw materials.

Viewing Manufactured Lots

  1. Navigate to inventory search
  2. Filter by manufactured items
  3. Click on a lot to view details
  4. See linked raw materials and production info

Best Practices

  1. Verify raw materials: Check availability before creating batches
  2. Use lot numbers: Enable traceability for quality control
  3. Pick completely: Ensure all materials are picked before manufacturing
  4. Record accurately: Enter actual produced quantities
  5. Store properly: Place finished goods in appropriate locations
