Set up SimplePrint and create your first label template.

Getting Started

This guide walks you through creating your first label template in SimplePrint.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Access credentials provided by your administrator
  • Understanding of your label dimensions and printer type
  • Sample data to test label printing

First Steps

1. Access Template Management

Navigate to Templates from the sidebar. This opens the template management view where you can:

  • View all templates
  • Create new templates
  • Edit existing templates
  • Test print templates

2. Understanding Label Templates

A label template defines:

Printer TypeThermal roll or sheet printer
DimensionsLabel size and page layout
ElementsText, barcodes, and QR codes to display

3. Printer Types

SimplePrint supports two printer categories:

Thermal Roll Printers

For continuous label rolls:

  • Define label width and height
  • Optional landscape orientation
  • Side-by-side labels for narrow rolls
  • Direct thermal printing support

Sheet Printers

For label sheets (A4, Letter, A5):

  • Multiple labels per page
  • Configurable margins
  • Row and column layout
  • Standard office printers

Creating Your First Template

Step-by-Step

  1. Click Add Template
  2. Enter a template name
  3. Select data source:
    • Products: Product information labels
    • Packages: Inventory/package labels
    • Production: Manufacturing batch labels
  4. Choose printer type and dimensions
  5. Add label elements
  6. Save the template

Adding Elements

For each element, specify:

  • Type: Text, Barcode, or QR Code
  • Content: Static text or placeholder
  • Position: X and Y coordinates
  • Size: Width, height, font size

Using Placeholders

Placeholders pull data automatically:

{{product.name}}      → "Widget Pro 2000"
{{product.code}}      → "WDG-2000"
{{product.barcode}}   → "123456789012"

Testing Your Label

Preview

Before printing:

  1. Open the template
  2. Select test data
  3. Review the preview
  4. Adjust positioning as needed

Test Print

Generate a test PDF:

  1. Click Print
  2. Select data to print
  3. Download the PDF
  4. Print on actual labels
  5. Verify alignment and content
